In order to evaluate some physiological characteristics and antioxidant enzyme activity of wheat in priming with chitosan nanoparticles (CNPs) under the influence of salinity stress, a factorial experiment was conducted based on a completely randomized design with 3 replications. Treatments were accelerated at four salinity levels (0, 50, 100, and 150 mM) and four CNPs levels (control (distilled water), 0/1, 0.2, and 0.5% weight volume, all of which had been dissolved in 1% acetic acid). The results showed that salinity stress reduced germination percentage (GP) and germination coefficient (GC). But priming improved these traits. So that the germination percentage (GP) in the treatment with CNPs 0.5% compared to the control (distilled water) showed an increase of about 20. The amount of germination coefficient (GC) in priming with CNPs 0.5 and without salinity compared to the control (distilled water) and 150 mM salinity showed a decrease of about 86. Salinity increased the mean germination time (MGT), so that the highest (1.359 seeds per day) was observed at a salinity of 150 mM. The main effect of CNPs and salinity on the activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase enzymes was significant (P<0.01). The activity of peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase enzymes in CNPs 0.5% treatment and salinity of 150 mM compared to the control showed an increase of about 49 and 68%, respectively. The results showed that seed priming with CNPs caused strengthening of the germination indices and biochemical traits in wheat and increased seedling growth.
